Halibut Cove is reachable only by ferry, float plane, or private boat. Private aircraft only and there is no airstrip. Whenever venturing into unknown waters, always be prepared for any emergency.

The closest medical facilities are in Homer. All emergency dispatch operations have to come from Homer and response time varies greatly depending on weather and available services.
